The Iconica 3000W 24V hybrid inverter intelligently combines the functions of a 3000W pure sine wave inverter, 60A MPPT solar charge controller and a 60A smart battery charger in one single unit. This model can accept input from solar panels, mains power/ generator and a battery - either from a single or combination of input sources. In addition to its hybrid capability, this innovative inverter features zero transfer time which enables instant 0ms transfer from mains to battery mode when the mains power is interrupted. In addition, the inverter has advanced communication functions including inbuilt Bluetooth, along with a menu full of highly customisable settings.
This is the perfect solution for any off-grid application with limited or zero access to traditional mains power. This hybrid inverter features a zero transfer time Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS), making it the ideal option for applications where the power supply is unreliable, intermittent or expensive to maintain. This inverter is great for both stationary and mobile off-grid installations (e.g. remote properties, holiday homes, huts, and cabins or narrowboats, yachts etc), IT systems requiring continuous operation in case of power failures, as well as for customers looking to reduce their mains electricity usage and save on electricity bills. It could also create the perfect back-up system in locations suffering from frequent power cuts.
Key functions:
1. 3000W 24V Pure sine wave inverter: Converts DC current into 230V AC mains electricity, to run various household appliances such as a TV, laptop, fridge, microwave, lighting etc. Able to generate 3000W of continuous power with a strong peak power handling capability of up to 6000VA (to start appliances with electric motors such as pumps, a vacuum cleaner, power tools etc). This inverter is a pure sine wave type, which easily surpasses modified sine wave inverters in terms of efficiency and compatibility with a wider range of appliances.
2. Inbuilt 60A MPPT Solar charge controller: The high efficiency MPPT controller regulates the input from the solar panels to the batteries or to load, with a full range of safety functions including protection against overcharge, overheating, reverse current etc. The controller operates at up to 98% efficiency to extract the maximum possible power from the solar array.
3. Enhanced 60A Smart battery charger: Designed to enable safe, efficient and fast (up to 60A) unattended charging of a battery from a mains power source or generator, with full overcharge protection and multiple charging stages.
4. UPS zero transfer time - Offers instant 0ms transfer from mains to battery mode when mains power is interrupted (normal speed of transfer for other inverters is 15-20ms). This improved UPS functionality allows critical IT loads such as computers and servers to operate continuously in case of power failures.
5. System expansion potential: This inverter has the ability to be connected in parallel with additional identical units (maximum of 8 further inverters), offering the possibility of large-scale system expansion, with up to 27kw of power handling capability. Once connected in parallel, there is the option for 3-phase operation (ideal if the system is being used to power industrial grade equipment and machinery run on 3 phase). Each inverter connected in the system will require a parallel connection kit (sold separately).
6. Inbuilt Bluetooth connectivity: The integrated Bluetooth function allows the inverter to be monitored remotely via the Watchpower mobile app - a free mobile app available for Android devices. After downloading the app, simply pair your mobile device with the inverter to gain access to important information such as solar/ battery/ AC voltage, charging current, battery capacity etc.

*Appliances marked with a star are likely to have a starting power consumption several times greater than their normal working power (typically this is caused by electric motors). This should be taken into account when choosing the correct size of inverter. For example, even though electric lawn mowers have a normal working power of 1000W, their starting power is over 4000W. This means that an inverter with a continuous power of 2000W is not suitable, because its peak power is limited to only 4000W. Always take into account the starting power requirements of your equipment - especially devices with electric motors - when choosing the right inverter.
**These appliances do not have an electric motor inside, but still have a variable power consumption with power spikes. Therefore they require a larger inverter than would be needed for other appliances with a similar nominal power rating.
Please also note: this table is provided for general guidance only. The actual power consumption of your appliances, as well as starting power requirements, may vary considerably. In all cases you will need to check the specifications of your equipment to find their continuous and starting power requirements.
If more than one device is connected to the inverter, the total power consumption should be the sum of all appliances used. This will determine the total inverter power required.
Determining the input voltage of your inverter: 12V or 24V
If you are looking for an inverter for your 12V leisure battery in a motorhome, caravan or boat, there isn't much choice in terms of the input voltage - you will need a 12V to 230V inverter, because your battery is 12V.
However, if you are building a standalone off-grid solar system (e.g. in a house, garden, shed or farm), then you can choose the voltage of your battery bank, and consequently, the input voltage of the inverter.
Instead of a 12V battery bank, you may choose to build a 24V battery bank (2 x 12V batteries wired in series will produce 24V). In this case you can use a 24V DC to 230V AC inverter, rather than 12V DC to 230V AC. This set-up will provide some important benefits:
- The input current for the inverter will be two times smaller for 24V than for 12V, making the inverter and the entire system safer and more reliable
- The cables between your battery and the inverter do not have to be as thick as those used for a 12V battery bank and inverter.
This is particularly important for large standalone solar systems with 2000W inverters. For such power levels, our recommendation is to opt for a 24V battery bank and an inverter with a 24V input voltage.
